Legislative Trends and Implications of the Advanced Regenerative Medicine Act
Kim Min-Woo

Abstract
Regenerative medicine has a high policy expectation that it can be industrialized by securing national competitiveness, but it is a field that requires legal regulation in that it is a field of uncertainty and potential risks. After several legislative attempts, the Advanced Regenerative Medicine Act passed the National Assembly's plenary session on August 2. The advanced regenerative medicine law has been prepared since 2013, and although it has been discussed for about three years since it was first initiated in 2016, it is a significant meaning to pass the bill since it was recently suspended by a judicial commission.
However, there were some controversial controversies about the bill, as some questioned the safety and effectiveness of stem cell-based procedures. On the contrary, it is necessary to actively support the advancement of the new growth engine industry by further strengthening safety and effectiveness at the national level and growing into a world-leading regenerative medicine field.
